Woodland margins, chalky downland and grassland.

Very similar to Common Carpet alternata. Comparatively on average 20% larger in size (not easy to judge in lone specimens).
The white outer band of Wood Carpet is relatively solid and only weakly divided, with a matching solid white band on the hindwing.
